| Description | The Project aims to offer the citizens an electronic access to relevant service information concerning the municipal administration of rural areas.
Over time a lot of inititiatives have been launched to provide citizens with digital access to public information, however, this service is often focused on development within the urban zones. The Digital Democracy in Rural Areas project, however, will be more directed towards the rural zone population. In addition the opportunity is provided to better understand the requirements of various sections of the population to the rural areas, and their use as well as the information required to be available. In this connection various interest groups need to be involved as wide gaps exist between e.g. farming requirements/use and those of the nature associations.
The project is based on the use of GIS (Graphical Information System), making it possible to reach numerous citizens in an easy way. Using a geographical representation of information, each citizen will have easier access to the information required in a more user-friendly and adequate way than previously.
Another goal of this project is to create an opportunity to actively participate in the planning, administration and running of the rural zones, including in particular the streams, but also e.g. technical buildings. This is obtained by offering the citizens an interactive communication with the municipality using applications, enquiries, participating in debates etc., and digital access will be offered to the political and democratic processes within the municipalities.
To ensure a maximal information access, a contact to the County of North Jutland should be established, as they have already information available on the land use in rural zones. Furthermore, other projects initiated by the Digital North Jutland will be involved to the widest extent possible.
By the completion of this project a database will be established with all relevant rural zone information, and by using the GIS system the technical departments of the municipalities will obtain an administrative tool that will streamline daily routines, thereby enabling a quicker and better service to the citizens. |
