| Description | With this project the municipality of Hals wants to further the use of electronically enabled communication and information via the Internet on a local level in relation to all aspects within society.
The idea is to involve citizens, associations, and the commercial and industrial sectors in a joint venture to create an Internet environment that should make a virtual meeting place and a forum for discussions, an e-directory, a news channel, advertising spot, a market place, an event calendar, and much more. All the interactive potentials of the Internet should be put to use, and everyone should be able to make an active use of it. For this reason the technology should be so simple that it will not prevent anyone from trying.
The portal should be attractive and varying, however, with a strong local identity that will embrace and present all the local Internet resources, and in this way offer users an attractive, easy to use access to activities, information and offers from associations, cultural life, trade and tourism
Via the project the municipality will actively contribute to placing most possible local associations, shops, businesses, organisations and industries on the Internet, so favourable offers will be made for a place on the Web hotel, email-addresses and consultant assistance for creating home pages.
Adding to this, a line of courses will be established in a co-operation between the education association, the libraries and others to offer citizens, the industries and associations an opportunity for lifting their qualifications in the field of IT. Part of the courses will happen via the Internet allowing people to attend on their own computers from their homes, when it fits them.
The municipality expects the project to result in local districts that are well equipped for the conversion to a network society, and that have adopted the TI technology as a natural means of communication, that will further the sense of community, social life and the potentials for democracy. |
