| Description | Today the municipal senior citizen councils have only few means available to share experience, and owing to this the results obtained from their efforts are rather varied across the municipalities. So the new technology should be summoned in creating a network to speed up the dissemination of good results and experience among the municipal senior citizen councils enhancing their efforts in relation to fellow senior citizens.
The senior citizens council network should create a common forum for debates and the sharing of experience for all to contribute.
A common portal for the municipal senior citizen councils of North Denmark is being established for the mutual sharing of experience and communication with all municipal senior citizen council members and others with an interest in their work.
The common portal should offer the following facilitites:
• Facilities for the common sharing of experience via e-mail groups, fora for debating, news groups, newsletters/e-zines etc.
• Facilities for each municipal senior citizen council to establish their own web site with agendas, summaries and minutes of meetings, newsletters etc.
• Facilities for the County Council For Senior Citizens
• Facilities for dialogues and debates among the municipal senior citizen councils, politicians and others invited to take part
• Facilities for hearings to be held
• General information on the municipal senior citizen councils, their function and role in the process of democracy
As the municipal senior citizen councils are intended to safeguard the interests and views of senior citizens and to speak on their behalf, it is essential for the councils to maintain an intensive contact to the senior citizens of the municipality. A strong and steady line to their backing is required to create a constructive dialogue between the municipal senior citizen councils and the municipal councils. So one of the important aspects of the municipal senior citizen council network is to make it an open and out-going network to involve alle senior citizens of North Denmark.
The network of the municipal senior citizen councils should be based on and continue the wealth of strong initiatives for learning and sharing of experience that are already up and running for the senior citizens of North Denmark. This goes for eg. the great number of IT classes and teach-ins held within the educational associations, the libraries and others. |
