| Description | In The Digital North Denmark the interests held by the citizens, the public sector and the industries in the infrastructure of the digital society should be secured considering both access lines and carriage lines. This also applies to providing the possibilities for small communities to participate in the development of the digital society.
The IT Infrastructure is the backbone of network society parallel to the infrastructure of industrial society being railroads, marine traffic and road traffic, and as such it requires the same attention.
By establishing Netforum and KMD Netbroker in North Denmark the first step has been taken to meet this challenge in a project, which is open to all North Denmark players in the field.
A great number of extensions need to be carried out on the infrastructure of the region, and the object of Netforum and KMD Netbroker is to contribute to make this happen on common grounds with the possibility of combining solutions across the product line of each provider when it comes to price, quality and delivery times.
The close collaboration in the project should secure vital social interests, and through an efficient use of theory and practice it should make sure that the base of experience created in the project can be utilized in the future.
The Netforum of North Denmark is an independent organisation established on the initiative of Spar Nord Bank, the University of Aalborg, the county of North Denmark, the municipality of Aalborg, and Kommunedata A/S with the aim of integrating the users' interest in the long-term regional development of the infrastructure.
The vision for the Netforum of North Denmark is to establish a knowledge centre for telecommunikation infrastructure, which on a long term could make the foundation for establishing a kind of "National Road Directorate" like with other infrastructures.
The KMD Netbroker is a commercial organisation established as part of Kommunedata A/S in collaboration with the municipalities of Brønderslev, Hals, Frederikshavn and Sæby. Setting off in the development plan worked out by the Netforum, KMD Netbroker should make specific partial plans for the users of the region. Potentially the KMD Netbroker could contribute to making these plans reality via the holding of total tenders.
The main tasks at hand in the project is completing a long term strategy and development plan for the infrastructure of the North Denmark Region with the aim of securing social interests, closely coordinated with the development of specific partial plans for four municipalities within this common framework.
The project has been allocated DKK 5,000,000 for support from The Digital North Denmark and is characterized by being a large and unifying project holding an obvious synergy with projects within E-Service, E-Business, E-Administration, E-Education etc.
Great interest has been shown by both the public and industrial sectors, and in its future work the project will make a goal of merging these interests into a constructive collaboration. |
