| Description | Citizens, industries and municipalities in North Denmark will now be getting a taste of the way the new broadband technology will open up to a wealth of facilities to make our daily life easier. Tele Danmark's Danish carrier of telephony contribution to The Digital North Denmark project is being referred to as the 'BIT Wagon', the purpose of which is to create a base for providing the best options to the local communities for communication within the community and to the rest of the world.
The possibilities of a mutual high speed communication can be used for the exchange of information, technical draughts, pictures and other important information to be exchanged quickly back and forth between collaborating partners. And with electronic mail people can keep smooth contact around the clock all over the world.
Internet access means easy and quick search for information, and there is virtually no limit to the potential for its professional use. A home page offers a possibility for a professional presentation of the company and its products and not at least for electronically enabled business.
The 'Bit Wagon' is made up by four corner stones:
· Almost a hundred citizens – and one IT workshop – will get Internet connection via fast ADSL lines enabling the download of e.g. film clip, music videos and games in a superb quality.
· Via a video platform a number of citizens will get the option of downloading videos via the Internet. Video requires very fast connections to prevent the transmission from being broken. The video platform offers a wealth of fascinating options. In addition to the conventional videos one could monitor the municipal public meetings, and real time teaching via the Internet is another possibility. The question of who is going to deliver the contents on the video platform is still open - but everyone is welcome to contribute.
· In one of the municipalities an industrial network will be established consisting of approx. 30 companies and municipal institutions. These will be able to communicate fast and securely within the municipality.
· Three municipalities will be connected in an intermunicipal network, enabling a fast and secure high quality exchange of data and communication. This also means that the municipalities will have the possibility of working more efficiently and improving the service to the citizens.
